Ongoing transformation of family and reproductive behavior in Slovakia in temporal and spatial aspect

The discontinuity of social, economic, political and cultural conditions brought about by the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s contributed to historically unique qualitative and quantitative changes in the family and reproductive behavior of the Slovak population. The essence of the project will be a comprehensive analysis of these transformational shifts in individual demographic processes and selected demographic structures during the last three decades, not only at the national but especially at the regional level. By applying several latest analytical approaches in cross-sectional and longitudinal view, we will try to answer how society-wide transformation was reflected in changes in family and reproductive behavior in Slovakia and its regions, how these changes took place in time and space. At the same time, we will try to point out the main spatial differences, specific features of reproduction, their development over time, as well as identify possible conditioning factors of existing spatial patterns.
