PACES Bratislava Writing Workshop (EN)

Between March 2 and March 6, 2026, the team of the Institute for Forecasting of the Centre of Social and Psychological Sciences hosted the PACES Bratislava Writing Workshop, which was attended by the members of the project consortium, particularly by researchers of the International Institute of Social Studies (Erasmus University Rotterdam), University of Alicante, Université Paris 13 (Sorbonne Paris North University), Samuel Hall East Africa Limited, Mixed Migration Centre, Mareena, Migration Policy Institute Europe. Our researchers Lucia Mýtna Kureková, Lucia Kováčová, and Jana Papcúnová organised and actively participated in the event.

As the project PACES, funded by the Horizon program, progresses towards its end, the research teams held multiple project meetings to discuss and debate PACES' theoretical anchoring, its concepts, as well as its research assumptions. The discussions were truly inspirational and resulted in a great learning experience of a dialectic journey between theory and PACES' very rich empirical work.

  • The week was launched with a public lecture by Ralitza Dimova about the role of social norms in migrant decision-making, followed by a reception allowing PACES researchers to meet the national academic community.
  • The PACES researchers met research participants - African migrants living in Slovakia, an event kindly organised by our project partner Mareena.
  • The week was closed by a great public event From Evidence to Action: Understanding Migration Choices in Times of Change in which the PACES findings were presented to Slovakia's national and international migration stakeholders, including diverse diplomatic corps and researchers. The event was organised by the Institute of Forecasting (CSPS SAS) together with the European Migration Network Slovakia, operating under IOM Slovakia, in cooperation with the Migration Policy Institute Europe.

More information about the PACES project is available HERE.

The PACES project is funded by the EU's Horizon Europe framework program for research and innovation.

We are grateful to all the participants for their active engagement in this inspirational week.
