On 23 June 2026, Migration Policy Institute Europe hosted the international webinar “Deciding at Every Stage: What Shapes Migration Decision-Making Before, During, and After the Journey” as part of the Horizon Europe PACES project. The webinar brought together researchers to present new evidence on the factors shaping migration decision-making across different stages of the migration journey.
Representing the Slovak partner of the project, Lucia Mýtna Kureková from the Institute for Forecasting, Centre of Social and Psychological Sciences, Slovak Academy of Sciences, presented research on the role of non-migration policies in shaping migration decisions. Her presentation highlighted how policies in areas such as education, labour markets, and social protection influence migration choices throughout the migration process. The webinar provided an opportunity to disseminate the latest findings of the PACES project and to discuss how research can contribute to more evidence-informed migration policymaking.
